The Constantly Evolving Couple

2 CE Credits - $40

Instructor: Jonathan Le, LCPC

Course Description

What factors help deepen the intimacy and connection between couples? The reality is that every adult changes and matures throughout the lifespan. The spouse that a person is married to today is going to be different to the one they are married to in 15, 10, or even 2 years from now. In this course, you will learn how the biopsychosocial model can be used to help couples adapt to and connect with a constantly evolving partner.

The biopsychosocial model allows clinicians to optimize their treatment planning process by assessing patients from a holistic, multidimensional perspective. The totality and fullness of a person goes beyond their mental health status. As human beings, we are wired for intimacy and connection with others on a biological, psychological, social, and spiritual level. As clinicians, it is imperative that we maximize holistic patient care by helping couples connect more deeply in each of these four areas.

In this course, you will learn how to apply the biopsychosocial model to your current treatment plans and identify the value of applying multisensory clinical interventions in therapy. Things to consider when working with multiracial couples will also be discussed. Additionally, this course includes strategies for clinicians to use to improve their own biopsychosocial health and functioning to optimize clinical competency.
